Bishop Mesiona visits his flock in Inagawan, Palawan

Inagawan, PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN—According to Canon Law, “a bishop is obliged to visit the diocese in whole or in part, so that he visits the entire diocese at least every five years either personally or, if he has been legitimately impeded, through the coadjutor bishop, an auxiliary, vicar general, episcopal vicar, or another presbyter.” (CIC 396.1)

The Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Inagawan was visited by no less than the Apostolic Vicar of Puerto Princesa, Most Rev. Socrates Mesiona, MSP, DD, together with the Chancellor of the Apostolic Vicariate, Fr. Salvador Saturnino, last September 4-6, 2020. The Bishop, as the shepherd of the whole Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa, met with the Parish Priest, Fray Urbano Galanido, OAR, the officers of the Parish Pastoral Council, and parishioners. The first day was marked by a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Bishop Mesiona.

On the second day of the visit, Bishop Mesiona visited all the chapels of the parish wherein he had a dialogue with the parishioners. The chapels that he visited were Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel in Kamuning; Saint Joseph Chapel in Piat Nga; San Antonio de Padua Chapel in Marambuaya; San Agustin Chapel in Tacduan; Santo Niño Chapel in Tagbarungis; and San Rafael Chapel in Tagumpay. He also celebrated the Holy Mass in Piat Nga and Tagbarungis chapels.

The last day of the visit was highlighted by the celebration of the Holy Mass in the parish church. Part of the visit of the bishop is to check the important books of the parish. On the last day, Bishop Mesiona penned onto the Book of Records of the parish. Before the end of the pastoral visit, members of different parish organizations were able to have some photo ops with their Apostolic Vicar.
