RAY de Talisay organized “Siete Palabras: RAY Reflections on Jesus’ Seven Last Words”

Talisay City, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL–The Universal Church once again commemorates the Paschal Mysteries of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Holy Week, especially Good Friday, is an ideal time to make use of this devotion for personal prayer: to silently and prayerfully contemplate Jesus’ passion and death; to be united to him in his suffering; and to dwell on the strength and mercy of his love. Also part of the celebration is the Reflection on the Seven Last Words of Jesus, which he uttered before His death on the cross.

Thus, the Recollect Augustinian Youth de Talisay headed by the Head of Vocals for Liturgy, Rodelin Oredina, organized this year’s 7 Last Words with the theme “Siete Palabras: RAY Reflections on Jesus’ Seven Last Words” that highlighted a valuable view on suffering and our attitudes towards it last April 2, 202. It was also live streamed in RAY de Talisay Facebook Page.

Seven significant persons of  RAY de Talisay, both young professionals and hard-working students, namely Kenneleen Slam Alvarado (RAY National Vocals for Apostolate), Cyrine Mae Mendoza (former RAY de Talisay- Secretary), Aira Joy  Legaspi (RAY de Talisay-Treasurer), Estella Marie Andador (RAY National Vocals for Liturgy), Aina Cristyl Custodio (Former RAY de Talisay-President), Rover Vincent Nahil (RAY de Talisay’s Vocals for Apostolate) and Christy Joyce Fortaleza (RAY de Talisay-President) who fully embraced the call of the Holy Spirit, shared their inspiring stories as they relate their personal situation and life experiences, recounting how our Lord Jesus Christ touched their lives proclaiming the great manifestation of God’s love seen from his death and resurrection.

The most important take away from this activity was the idea that God allows us to suffer if He knows that we will gain something greater from it. God sent down his only son in order to save us. Although we learned so much from His life, His suffering changed our faith forever.

Jesus’ death in times like these marks an important lesson. Our world has completely turned upside down, been put on pause, and changed forever. This Holy Week might be different from anyone that any of us have experienced, but we must stay strong. We must remember that something “Good” will come from our suffering. We must remember that Jesus had to die in order for him to resurrect.
