Institution of new OAR Lectors and Acolytes at OLCP
Mira-Nila Homes, Quezon City – March 19, 2016, as the Universal Church celebrated the Solemnity of St. Joseph, six first year OAR friars and six second year OAR friars received the ministry of lector and acolyte respectively. The celebration of the rite of institution of lector and acolyte was held at the parish church of Our Lady of Consolation, Mira-Nila Homes, Quezon City. Rev. Fr. Lauro V. Larlar, OAR, prior of Recoletos Formation Center was the main celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Institution of Lector and Acolytes was done after the homily. Rev. Fr. Larlar, delegated by the prior provincial, Very Rev. Fray Dionisio Q. Selma, OAR, presided the Rite of Institution.

The Ministry of Lector and Acolyte are preparatory stages required before the reception of Holy Orders. The Lector is tasked to proclaim the Word of God (except the Gospel) at Holy Mass. He may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and, in the absence of a psalmist, recite the Psalm between the readings (GIRM 99), and the Acolyte is tasked to assist the priest at Holy Mass as “Altar Server” and to distribute Holy Communion when necessity demands (cf. GIRM 187-192).
