With “Strings” Attached: String Ensemble
•August 29, 2017
Valencia, Negros Oriental – San Pedro Academy (SPA) established the first ever String Ensemble in the municipality of Valencia on August 14, 2017.
It started from a simple strand of dream of the School Director/Principal, Rev. Fr. Leo G, Alaras, OAR, to have a string ensemble that will accompany the school’s regular Wednesday or first Friday Mass.
To make such dream turn into reality, Rev. Fr. Leo G. Alaras, OAR invited Samuel Kangma, the Orchestra Director of SU COPVA (Silliman University, College of Performing and Visual Arts) to hold training sessions for SPA students who are interested to be part of the string ensemble.
As it turned out, a number of students and even teachers are eager to learn how to play the string instruments such as violin, viola and cello. And so, the strand of dream became strings of reality. Regular trainings are now being conducted to this string ensemble.
“Now the strings are attached, let the music play” became the mantra of the newly founded string group.
