SEMoNoRe celebrates Feast of St. Ezekiel Moreno: a sharing of healing with Fr. Orbos

Antipolo City, RIZAL—On August 19, 2019, the community of St. Ezekiel Moreno Novitiate–Recoletos (SEMoNoRe) celebrated the feast day the community’s patron saint and the patron of the Province. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist started at 10:00 am, with Rev. Fr. Jerry M. Orbos, SVD, as main celebrant who accepted the opportunity to preside the Mass as a thanksgiving to St. Ezekiel Moreno. He believed that through the  intercession of St. Ezekiel he was healed from his cancer.

The homily of Fr. Orbos was very meaningful and inspiring. He shared his healing experience through his devotion to the very saint. Before, Fr. Jerry did not know St. Ezekiel Moreno, until Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, MB, a former Recollect priest who became the founder of the Missionaries of the Beatitudes, handed him an image of St. Ezekiel Moreno. When he was diagnosed with cancer, Fr. Hernando advised him to ask the intercessions of St. Ezekiel because he is the patron of cancer patients. Fr. Orbos did likewise and since then, a miracle happened. He recovered from cancer and according to his story, he personally experienced his fatherly presence and healing through his statue that constantly shed perspiration and tears during my bout with cancer last year. After my last chemotherapy in November 2018, it no longer shed tears, nor perspired, as if telling me that my cancer is gone.”

Indeed, St. Ezekiel Moreno is a Real Saint, who stresses the loving, compassion of God. Moreover, he added in his homily, “We must continue to pray more and have faith rather than to worry much on our illnesses and problems.”

A good number of Augustinian Recollect priests, religious and seminarians, religious sisters from different congregations and lay faithful attended the Eucharistic Celebration. It was a very solemn and charismatic celebration. Fr. Jerry extended his gratitude to the OAR Fathers because he was given the opportunity to celebrate the Holy Mass in honor of the saint who interceded for his healing. The celebration of the Hoy Mass was followed by a fiesta lunch at the St. Ezekiel Moreno Novitiate-Recoletos covered court. Happy Fiesta! St. Ezekiel Moreno, pray for us.
