The Arrival . . .

On January 18, 2020, the lay parishioners of Our Lady of Visitation Parish have welcomed the SeƱor Sto. NiƱo de Visitacion in the community. The arrival of the sacred image was considered a great event not only for the lay faithful but also for those members of the community who have a very close devotion toward the SeƱor Sto. NiƱo. A motorcade was organize at Pasibi-Bituag road towards the parish church. The sacred image is a personal gift by Rev. Fr. Joseph Cyprian Panaligan, OAR on his second year as the local parish priest of the OLVP community. To propagate the devotion, every 3rd Sunday of the month will be dedicated to Sto. NiƱo de Visitacion and will be commemorated as a local festivity.

As the ā€œIcon of Hopeā€, the SeƱor Sto. NiƱo de Visitacion connotes a unique image portraying the Holy Child holding some ears of rice stalksā€”the basic livelihood of the local community. Instead of staff and a globe, He is holding the rice stalks which indicates His humility of being with the people to share their daily experiences. The SeƱor Sto. de Visitacion depicts His solidarity with the local people especially to the individuals who are losing hope because of despair and worries. Indeed, He became part of our lives to signify His unity and harmony with us in our day-to-day living. Thus, in this manner, the SeƱor Sto. NiƱoā€™s presence would manifest His love for His people by being with them even amidst those unfortunate events in life.

ā€œDAYAW!ā€

Viva Pit SeƱor! Viva SeƱor Sto. NiƱo de Visitacion! These were the yells and shouts from the participants during the first-ever DAYAW in the community of Pasibi East, Urbiztondo, Pangasinan. The word ā€œDAYAWā€ is derived from these two Pangasinense words, ā€œDayewā€ which means ā€œto praiseā€ and ā€œSayawā€ meaning ā€œto dance.ā€ Generally, it denotes a form of communal praise that is expressed through a cultural dance step in honor of the SeƱor Sto. NiƱo de Visitacion. It took place on January 19, 2020, at Pasibi East Covered Court. The event was participated by the two performing groups namely, the Urbiztondo National Highschool Dance Group and the Balangay National Highschool Dance Group. Each group has rendered its cultural dance steps to express their praise and devotion to the SeƱor Sto. NiƱo. The said event was also attended by the local parishioners coming from the different purok barangays. After the two presentations, all the faithful were invited to participate and to ā€œdayawā€ their images of Sto. NiƱo. As a community, they partook in the said event and rendered their dance steps. The event was organized by the OLVPā€”Parish Pastoral Council officers led by Rev. Fr. Joseph Cyprian Panaligan, OAR, who is the current parish priest. It was a successful event especially to those lay faithful who have devotion towards the SeƱor Sto. NiƱo de Visitacion.
