VP-RA and VP-SW lead RELAY Conference
Bacolod City, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL–The offices of the Vice President for Religious Affairs and Vice President for Student Welfare led the Religious and Lay (RELAY) Conference last February 21 at the Presidents’ Hall. After the opening formalities, Fray Amadeo Lucero, OAR, UNO-R VP-Student Welfare, gave the welcome remarks focusing on love. Moreover, Fray Cristituto Palomar, OAR, VP-Religious Affairs, gave spiritual input to the assembly. He stressed on the Recollect identity of each one. He started with the symbols representing our identity as Augustinian Recollects: the eagle in the university logo, “Caritas et Scientia”, and Augustinian and UNO-R core values.
Fray Palomar shared the UCDO, Campus Ministry and the Religious Education (UCARE) programs of these offices under his supervision. To further understand the reason for our existence, he traced the history of the Augustinian Recollects from the Creation of man to the formation of UNO-R in 1964. After the inputs, updates, issues, and concerns. Reports from the offices were made: Mr. Isidore Vincent Adolfo for CMO; Mrs. Genie Pedroza for REED; and Ms. Maribel Gonzales, RSW, MSSW for UCDO. During the open forum, Fray William Villaflor, OAR, Local Prior and VP-Finance, commended the input of Fray Cris and reminded the assembly that there is a need to always “go inside”(interiority).
“Human beings without interiority are human beings without identity”, Fray Palomar added. He also reminded everyone to take care of the mission of bringing the students to grow in faith and the teachers as catechists should have well-founded faith. He also reminded everyone of the Pastoral objective for 2020 with the theme “we are prophets of the Kingdom, the poor and the peripheries. This should be the foundation of our social outreach programs. 2020’s theme for the educational apostolate is “Give what you have so you can receive what you lack” is anchored on the Augustinian value of “solidarity and Justice”.
On the other hand, Fray Don Besana, OAR, University President shared that this year and the coming years. UNO-R shall follow the 3E’s which are Evangelization, Excellence and Extra mile. He reminded the body that “Evangelization” will be the leading program of the university.
The Offices under the VP-Student Welfare also presented their updates, issues, and concerns: Dr. Dexter Paul Dioso for the DSA; Ms. Winnie Sumbillo, RN for the medical –Dental Clinic; and Mrs. Elma Tejida for the sports. And Fray Ronel P. Gealon, OAR for the Scholarships programs. The program was hosted by Fray Jazzy Montañez.
