QUEZON CITY–With the current threat of the Corona Virus (COVID-19), parishioners were advised not to attend the liturgical celebrations of Holy Week. Instead, they were encouraged to participate in the celebration by staying in their homes and watch the live coverage of the celebration through social media.

The Parish of San Nicolas de Tolentino, headed by the Fray Jonathan Caballero, OAR, Parish Priest, brought out to the streets within the parish jurisdiction the image of the crucified Christ on Good Friday, April 10, 2020. Together with Fray Caballero were four newly ordained priests, namely, Fray Jovy Gallego, OAR, Fray Benjamine Edobor, OAR, Fray Jessriel Marcha, OAR, and Fray Maximillian Omem, OAR, who blessed the faithful with Holy Water as they passed by. The parishioners were asked to bring with them a lighted candle and a crucifix so that they may be blessed as the “mobile veneration of the Cross” passed by their homes. Amidst the pandemic COVID-19, parishioners went out to meet the Christ hanging on the cross and raised their hands in prayer to receive His blessing.

The procession started at 5:00 PM after the Commemoration of the Passion of Our Lord was done within the parish church. As an observance of the guidelines set by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines and the Inter-Agency Task Force, only the members of the community of St. Ezekiel Moreno Provincial Center and some lay ministers who took the roles as choir and altar servers attended the liturgical service.
