Formation Year Commences with Mass of the Holy Spirit
BAGUIO CITY — Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary commences the formation year with the Mass of the Holy Spirit presided by Rev. Fr. Bernard C. Amparado, OAR, last August 21, 2021.
The seminary rector emphasized the importance of the Holy Spirit’s role not just on individual’s life, but the Church as a whole.
“The Holy Spirit is vital in every Christian’s life to fulfill his Christian Duties,” Fr. Amparado said. “In life we need Its inspiration, otherwise life will be dull and many problems will stay unresolved,” he added.
Though the Holy Spirit plays this important role, people do not give a chance for the Holy Spirit to work Its ways because they avert to Its promptings in two ways; first is when people reject their duties because they feel unworthy, and the second is when people reject the ones whom God has entrusted to them.
“Kung wala ang Holy Spirit baka wala na ang Simbahan, sapagkat ang unang lider nito na si Pedro ay minsan nang nagint taksil (If there are no workings of the Holy Spirit the Church may have been long gone, because its first leader was once a traitor),” Fr. Amparado said.
After the homily, both the religious and lay formators professed their faith (Professio Fidei) as a sign of the fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church and dedication to their duties as teachers in the canonical formation house for the preparation of the future priests and religious of the Church.
The induction and oath taking of the newly-elected seminary officers also took place before the final blessing
Declaration of the Official Seminary Motto and Logo
During the announcements, Fr. Amparado, as the seminary rector, declared the official seminary motto and logo.
The seminary motto is taken from the school-seminary hymn composed in Spanish entitled Aires Puros.
“‘Sed luz y amor para elm undo (be light and love for the world)’ will be the seminary motto,” said Fr. Amparado.
According to Fr. Amparado, the motto summarizes both the vision, mission, and the objectives of the school-seminary.
Rev. Fr. Anthony P. Irineo, OAR, the Dean of Studies of the seminary, said that motto is not only for the distinctiveness and identity of the CaReS seminarians, but it must also be used every day in order to assimilate it in one’s life.
What followed is the official declaration of the seminary logo.
The Our Lady of the Pillar is to be placed at the center of the logo, because the CaReS owns its “incessant presence and the steadfast realization of its vision and mission to the motherly protection and loving guidance of its patroness,” said Fr. Amparado.
The seminary logo when printed, he announced, must be in “pine green color to reflect and depict the lush pines where the seminary marvelously stands.”
Welcome Program
After the Mass of the Holy Spirit, the congregation proceeded to the refectory for the breakfast and the welcome program.
The program is the seminary’s way to formally accept the newcomers to the community of CaReS.
“Bringing you all back here is indeed very challenging,” said Fr. Irineo. “(B)ut here we can clearly see the working of the mighty hands of God,” he added.
Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary welcomes ten (10) new first year college students and two (2) seminarians from the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm, also known as the Camillians, for the academic year 2021-2022.
