Sacred Protest – Esitis 2022
Peace as Protest is a visual articulation of the universal language of peace—as embraced by different religions, institutions and individuals.
The exhibit will feature the recent artworks of Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR, a Filipino social justice activist and a MESt student of the University of Bonn (Faculty of Protestant Theology). The artist uses various symbols related to peace, providing concretely the visualization of the impacts of armed conflicts enabling dehumanization and suffering.
This art exhibit brings relevance to the current protest mobilizations against the Russian aggression in Ukraine—people protesting for peace and end of suffering in Ukraine.
Peace as Protest reflects the role of many faiths in seeking relevance in the midst of armed conflicts—where every religion should demand a just and lasting peace across cultures, religions and societal situations.
This art exhibition is part of the Bi-annual International Congress of the European Society for Intercultural Theology and Interreligious Studies – Sacred Protest: Religion, Power, and Resistance in an Era of Upheaval; hosted by the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the University of Bonn
