San Vicente Ferrer Quasi Parish Celebrates Fiesta
APO ISLAND, NEGROS ORIENTAL – “Praise God!” exclaimed Fray Jay M. Parilla, OAR, the Parish Priest, during the Concelebrated Fiesta Mass of San Vicente Ferrer Quasi Parish last April 5, 2022.
Fray Parilla, OAR, served the island for seven years. He recounted during his gratitude speech how generous the people are and praised God for all his miracles in order to build the church on the island. He reminded the parishioners to take care of the church as he also expressed his gratitude to all who helped in the construction of the church, especially the Radio Emergency Communication Operation Network Citizen Active Response Team of Valencia (RECON CART 7) who tirelessly rendered their service for the completion of the church.
Various activities cascaded. The highlight activities are as follows: On March 28, the first day of Novena, there was an Opening Salvo wherein they danced Caracol in honor of their patron saint; April 3 was Family Day by the beach; April 4 Mass was held at the former location of the Quasi Parish and was followed by the Fluvial Procession around the island, ushered by the Philippine Coast Guard.
April 5 is the Concelebrated Mass led by Rev. Fr. Ben Eric Lozada of the Diocese of Dumaguete. Present during the celebration were various congregations of religious and priests. In the afternoon, there was a Mass, then a grand fiesta procession, and in the evening, there was the festival queen competition.
