Ledo, West Kalimantan, Indonesia – The Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno and the Archdiocese of Pontianak inaugurated the new Augustinian Recollect Parish in Kecamatan Ledo, Kebupaten Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia last August 28, 2022, the day of the solemn feast of our Father St. Augustine. The new parish was declared as “Paroki Santo Agustinus dari Hippo-Ledo” which would be comprised of 26 stasi (chapels).

Presided by the Archbishop of Pontianak, Msgr. Agustinus Agus, the solemn Mass and inaugural event was graced by a number of lay faithful, clergy, and government officials. The Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno showed their support through the presence of Fray Anthony Morillo, OAR and Fray Edgar Tubio, OAR, who were the delegates from the Philippines.

Fray Russel Lapidez, OAR was installed as the Prior and Parish Priest of the Recollect community in Ledo, with Fray Jovy Gallego, OAR as the Parish Vicar and Community Procurator.

The highlights of the event was the Holy Mass that includes the signing of the inauguration marker by Msgr. Agus, the cutting of ribbon on the new parish signage, and the celebration program afterwards.

On September 19, 2018, Fray Russel Lapidez, OAR and Fray Dominador Mercado, OAR arrived together with the then Prior Provincial Fray Dionisio Selma, OAR and former Head of Secretariat of Mission Apostolate Fray Edgar Tubio, OAR, to pioneer the OAR presence in Indonesia.
