PRIOR GENERAL VISITS RECOLETOS DE LOS ARCOS

Encuentro entre el Prior General de la Orden de Agustinos Recoletos y el Obispo de la Diócesis de Butuan

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – The community of Recoletos de Los Arcos rejoiced over the arrival of the Prior General of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, Fr. Miguel Angel Hernandez, OAR together with his secretary, Fr. Luciano Audisio, OAR and his translator, Fr. Domingo Saladaga, OAR.

Bishop Cosme Damian R. Almedilla, D.D of the Diocese of Butuan, made his presence available for this special event. Along with festive bands and the lay faithful, Fr. Jerome Virtudazo, OAR, Fr. Christopher Gaspar, OAR, and Rev. Ivan Cuison, OAR, welcomed in exaltation their esteemed guests to San Nicolas Mission Station, Los Arcos

Fr. Jerome Virtudazo, OAR introduced the Prior General and acknowledged the presence of the Bishop. He also mentioned that there are two types of visit the prior general does; canonical and fraternal visit. And this day is the Prior General’s fraternal visit to the community.

In his message, the Prior General said: “Thank You for the warm welcome and for the presence of your beloved Bishop. I made sure to visit the Recollect communities here in Mindanao. This is a fraternal visit for me to know the people better and to acknowledge and know the people who one way or another helped the church, who participated in the mission, and who took care of the Recollect Brothers here in Los Arcos.”

In return, Bishop Cosme Damian, D.D, Bishop of Butuan also expressed his joy and gladness for meeting the Prior General and his secretary who came all the way from Rome, the center of our Christian Faith. The Bishop mentioned that the history of Los Arcos was very rich and fruitful. He was thankful for the presence of the Augustinian Recollect Missionaries who have contributed to the benefit of Los Arcos.

A question-and-answer session took place during the dialogue between the Prior General and the community. Concerns were raised, especially the construction of the convent. At the conclusion of the fraternal visit, a group picture was taken composed of the Prior General, the Bishop, the Recollect Friars, Recollect Augustinian Youth, teachers, Knights of Columbus, LGU, military officials and the rest of the lay faithful.
