PILILLA, RIZAL – On a historic day, the Nuestra Señora de la Salud Friary in Pililla, Rizal welcomed distinguished guests from Rome – Fr. Miguel Angel D. Hernandez, OAR, the Prior General, and the Secretary General, Fr. Luciano Audisio of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.

Fr. Miguel’s awaited arrival was at 10:20 AM, warmly escorted from the Novitiate House in Antipolo by the local prior. The day was filled with activities reflecting the community’s unity and spirit.

Leading by example and in tune with the friary’s commitment to sustainability, Fr. Miguel’s inaugural activity was tree planting. He chose to plant cacao and mangosteen trees in the farm, symbolizing growth, prosperity, and the Order’s deep-rooted commitment to the environment.

Following this green initiative, Fr. Miguel convened a meeting with the community. For two hours, the congregation was updated on matters from the general seat and discussed the concerns and aspirations of the Pililla community. This was an opportune moment for both sides to bridge gaps, share visions, and strengthen their collective mission.

The unity and joy of this significant visit were encapsulated in a community photograph, a memento that would forever remind the friars of the bond they share with the greater Order. With the morning’s proceedings coming to an end, the community gathered for a communal lunch, celebrating their shared heritage and the special day they had just experienced.

Though time was limited, as Fr. Miguel had to proceed to his next visit to the Provincial House, the impact of his presence was deeply felt. His maiden visit to the Nuestra Señora de la Salud Friary was not just a formality but a heartfelt gesture of unity, understanding, and forward-thinking. The community remains ever grateful for this momentous occasion and looks forward to more such engagements in the future.
