The Secretariat of Formation and Vocation Empowers Local Vocation Promoters

BACOLOD, Negros Occidental – In an effort to empower vocation promotion, the Secretariat of Formation and Vocation of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno held a workshop on “Vocation Promoters Formation: St. Augustine and Vocational Discernment and Accompaniment” at the St. Ezekiel Moreno Monastery, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental last March 1-2, 2024.

Fray Fabián Martín Gómez, OAR, one of the General Councilors and the President of the General Secretariat of Initial Formation and Vocation of the Order, and Fray Rafael Castillo, OAR, Vicar Provincial of the Vicariate of the United States (USA) accompanied by Fray Kenneth Joseph Onda, OAR, President of the Secretariat of Formation and Vocation of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, spearheaded the workshop.

The event brought together the Local Vocation Promoters from various OAR communities in the Philippines. Representatives from the Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters and the OAR Contemplative Nuns also joined the workshop. With a shared commitment to fostering vocations, the participants engaged in discussions and collaborative sessions aimed at refining their skills in vocational discernment and accompaniment.

The participants delved into the teachings of St. Augustine, exploring his insights on vocational discernment and accompaniment. Through reflection and dialogue, the participants gained valuable perspectives on how to accompany individuals on their journey of discernment, providing them with the necessary support and guidance along the way.

St. Ezekiel Moreno Monastery provided a serene and conducive environment for the workshop, allowing participants to immerse themselves fully in this encounter. The workshop not only equipped attendees with practical tools and techniques but also fostered a sense of renewal and collaboration among vocation promoters, strengthening their collective efforts in nurturing vocations especially to the religious and priestly vocation.
