Order of Augustinian Recollects Welcomes Three New Friars

Solemn Profession (16)

Quezon City – The Order of Augustinian Recollect definitively incorporates three Friars from the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno last October 7, 2024. Rev. Fr. Bernard C. Amparado, OAR, Prior Provincial, accepted the three friars during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at the Our Lady of Consolation Parish.

“We are here today because of all your prayers,” said Fray Mc Airel Capinpin, OAR in his gratitude speech on behalf of the candidates. “We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for all your prayers and support, both seen and unseen,” he added.

Fray Mc Airel Capinpin, OAR, Fray Joseph Neil Baygan, OAR, and Fray Judd Galinato, OAR, are the newly incorporated members of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.

“But at this moment, I feel that there is only one Name we should mention in our praise and gratitude, our Lord Jesus Christ,” said Fray Capinpin explaining that “it is Jesus who truly merits the deepest honor and appreciation” of the day’s celebration.

“Together, we acknowledge the profound impact Christ had on our lives and the reason for our gathering today,” he ended.

Fray Mc Airel Capinpin, OAR is from Brooke’s Point, Palawan. Fray Capinpin’s recent assignment was in St. Vicente Ferrer Parish in Talisay, Negros Occidental.

Fray Joseph Neil Baygan, OAR, is from Jagna, Bohol. Fray Baygan’s recent community exposure was in Pontianak Indonesia.

Fray Judd Galinato, OAR is a native of Guindulman, Bohol. Fray Galinato immersed himself in the community of Caidiocan, Valencia, Negros Occidental.

Rite of Renunciation

The night before the Solemn Profession, the candidates made their renunciation of material possessions before the Prior of the house, Rev. Fr. Ian Anthony Espartero, OAR in a private rite in the St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel.

Also present in the rite is Rev. Fr. Kenneth Onda, OAR, first councilor of the Province, and Rev. Fr. James Castelo, OAR, master of the Professed.

“Remember you are dust and unto dust you will return,” reminded Rev. Fr. Ian to the candidates who explained that this statement is an invitation to humility.

“It is an invitation towards humility and humility would always be difficult for us to assume it is because we are so full of ourselves, we claim to be rich not just with who we are and what we are but with the abundant and replete blessings that the Lord has favored us so much all through our life,” he added.

The Prior of the House emphasized that God must be credited for a person’s giftedness, never oneself because what a human being can only claim as his own is his sinfulness.

“We can rightly claim despite our giftedness that we are sinners. May God’s mercy be upon you that despite your being sinful, God may make good use of you,” he said.
