Gospel Bullet Points (John 18:33-37)
- The Liturgical Year comes to an end with the celebration of Christ the King. As we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ as King, we acknowledge our faith in the universal kingship of Jesus and our longing for the full realization of God’s kingdom
- During these perilous times when everything is almost uncertain, having Jesus as our King should fill us with the gratitude of knowing how He continues to love and protect us. Acknowledging Jesus as our king should also give us courage, assurance, and hope. There’s plenty of fearful realities out there. There are plenty of things that threaten us. Â But this is a Sunday that should give us comfort and assurance.
- We have an all-powerful King and Lord who is Jesus. The mercy and love of our King will always be with us, to accompany us. As St. Paul would say, nothing can ever separate us from his love and mercy.
- Jesus knows all our trials, our hardships, our pain, our sufferings. He has gone through all these. He even accepted crucifixion as an offering on our behalf. Down through history, thousands of followers have died for their kings, but Jesus is the King who died for us to give us, His beloved, life! Let us reaffirm our trust in Him as we celebrate His Kingship.
