• St Luke explains to Theophilus that, in essence, Christianity is all about the love and mercy of our God rather than about sin, punishment, and hell.
• What he has spoken in the synagogue summarizes his mission: “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery to the sight of the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
• Take note that Jesus shows here that he was not only concerned with the spiritual welfare of humanity but also with its material and social aspects.
• As we celebrate the Jubilee Year (2025), let us bring the Good News of the Lord to all. As followers of Jesus, we ought to take upon ourselves His mission of the Lord.
