Canlubang, Laguna – Anchored in the spirit of faith, unity, and mission, and inspired by this year’s theme, “You also are my witnesses, because you have been with me” (John 15:27), Recollect Augustinian Youth (RAY) members from various communities across Luzon came together for the 2025 Regional Recollect Augustinian Youth Summit (RRAYS) on March 22-23, 2025. Held at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Canlubang, Laguna, the summit served as a sacred gathering where Recollect Augustinian Youth members deepened their faith, strengthened their bonds as a community, and embraced their calling to be authentic witnesses of Christ’s love in the modern world.

DAY 1: CALLED TO BE WITNESSES

The summit commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Don Besana, OAR. In his homily, he reminded the delegates, “It is only by the grace, mercy, and love of God that we can enter heaven.” This message set the tone for the event, inspiring the youth to deepen their faith and embrace their mission as bearers of God’s love.

Following a lively lunch, the opening program was held at the Multipurpose Hall, marking the official start of the summit. One of the most anticipated moments was the keynote talk delivered by Rev. Fr. Gideon Antolin Lagrimas, OAR, centered on the theme: “You are also my witnesses because you have been with me.” (John 15:27). He challenged the youth to recognize their role as modern-day disciples, living out their faith with courage and conviction.

A group sharing session followed, where delegates engaged in heartfelt discussions, sharing their journeys of faith and how they have been witnesses to others. This intimate exchange allowed them to reflect deeply on their mission and build meaningful connections with fellow youth from different communities.

The plenum session then provided a platform for creativity and expression. Delegates showcased their reflections through short skits, creatively illustrating their learnings and inspiring others with their stories of faith.

As night fell, the delegates gathered for the praying of the Coronilla, a special devotion that prepared their hearts before dinner. The day concluded with a cultural presentation, where each community performed heartfelt songs, graceful dances, and inspiring skits—all creatively conveying the message of taking up one’s cross daily and being a beacon of hope in the world.

DAY 2: STRENGTHENING FAITH IN ACTION

The second day began with a morning prayer, setting a reflective and spiritual tone for the activities ahead. This was followed by an energizing Zumba session, where the youth joyfully danced together, fostering unity and enthusiasm among the delegates.

One of the highlights of the day was the talk on the Jubilee Year 2025, delivered by Mr. Renz Calex Soriano. He encouraged the youth to see hope through the eyes of God, reminding them that despite life’s uncertainties and personal preferences, true fulfillment comes from trusting in the Lord’s plan. His words served as a powerful reminder that hope in God never disappoints.

The summit was further enriched by the presence and guidance of several Spiritual Directors and brothers, who played a vital role in the faith journey of the delegates:

Fr. Ricky Austria, OAR (San Nicholas)

Fr. Jayferson Baldelovar, OAR (Pangasinan)

Fr. Amado Emmanuel Bolilia, OAR (Canlubang)

Fr. Ralph Laureen Ciceron, OAR (Baguio)

Fr. Gideon Antolin Lagrimas, OAR (Cavite)

Fr. Dexter Palagtiosa, OAR (Alfonso)

Fr. Joseph Cyprian Panaligan, OAR (Antipolo)

Fray Christian Peralta, OAR (RFC)

Fray Helfrich Palmis, OAR (Tondo)

Their presence and spiritual guidance reinforced the importance of mentorship, community, and perseverance in faith, reminding the youth that they are never alone in their journey.

The day continued with an engaging team-building activity, where the RAY members participated in challenges and games that strengthened their bonds as a united and faith-driven community.

The spiritual pinnacle of the summit was the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Dexter Palagtiosa, OAR. In his homily, he challenged the youth to remain steadfast in their commitment to the Lord and to continue serving the Church despite trials and difficulties. His words encouraged the delegates to live out their faith boldly and to stay active in their communities as agents of evangelization.

The summit concluded with the awarding of certificates, recognizing the participation and contributions of the different communities. The event ended on a joyful and meaningful note, as the delegates departed with renewed spirits, strengthened friendships, and a deeper commitment to their mission.

The Regional Recollect Augustinian Youth Summit 2025 was more than just a gathering; it was a sacred encounter—an opportunity for the youth to deepen their faith, strengthen their community, and embrace their calling to be Christ’s witnesses.

As they returned to their respective communities, they carried with them not just memories, but a renewed sense of purpose—to continue being bearers of hope, love, and faith, living out the Augustinian spirit in their daily lives.

Indeed, the fire of faith has been ignited, and the mission continues.
