Gospel Bullet Points (Luke 12:49-53)

  • Jesus says that He did not come to establish peace on earth… but rather division.
  • Does Jesus want division in our families? For sure, Jesus does not wish for households to be divided. He wanted His listeners to be aware that He has come to do and fulfill the Father’s will, which often led to division. Jesus came for all to reconcile all with God. BUT while He came for ALL, not ALL will receive Him (SANA ALL). That caused division then and continues to cause division in our day. Different people will embrace the Word and Truth in various ways that result in disagreement and division. Our preparedness and openness to embrace the Word will vary even within families as we strive to seek the Lord and our salvation.
  • Jesus has come to offer a real and lasting peace that comes from a decision to totally submit oneself to the will and care of a loving God, even if this decision were to violate normal and familial relationships. Today, we are invited to receive the peace He offers to those who wish to be united to Him and by Him
