Baguio City, Philippines – The Recoletos de Baguio Community officially welcomed its local prior, Fray Lauro Larlar, OAR, for another term during a solemn rite of Toma de Posesion held on the evening of July 21, 2025. The installation ceremony took place during the praying of the Vespers at the Our Lady of the Pillar Chapel.

The rite was presided over by the Prior Provincial, Fray Bernard Amparado, OAR, underscoring the importance of the event within the Augustinian Recollect Order. The chapel was filled with members of the Recoletos de Baguio religious community and the seminarians, who gathered to witness and participate in this spiritual milestone.

This reappointment signifies a continuity in leadership, as Fray Larlar previously served as the local prior during the last triennium. The Toma de Posesion formally marks the assumption of office by a newly appointed or reappointed local prior. The rite underscored Fray Larlar’s ongoing commitment to lead and serve the Recoletos de Baguio Community in accordance with the Constitutions of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.

Fray Larlar brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as a seasoned formator and, notably, as a three-term Prior Provincial of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno. His extensive background in leadership and formation within the Order, combined with his recent term as local prior, positions him uniquely to guide the Recoletos de Baguio Community forward with wisdom and familiarity.

During the ceremony, the community gathered in prayer, offering their support to Fray Larlar as he continues in this leadership role. The Vespers, rich in its liturgical significance, provided a fitting backdrop for the installation, emphasizing the spiritual dimension of Fray Larlar’s responsibilities.

As local prior, Fray Larlar will continue to be responsible for the spiritual and temporal well-being of the Recoletos de Baguio Community, overseeing its daily life, fostering fraternal charity, and ensuring the faithful observance of the Order’s charism. His reappointment is a testament to the community’s trust and his unwavering dedication and service within the Augustinian Recollect Order.

The Recoletos de Baguio Community looks forward to Fray Larlar’s continued leadership, anticipating a period of sustained spiritual growth and dedicated service to the local church and the wider community.
