Fray Leonardo Pauligue, OAR, Installed as New Local Prior of Recoletos de Bacolod Amidst Enthusiastic Welcome

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental – Despite the gloomy and rainy weather this Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the convent chapel of Recoletos de Bacolod was filled with a sense of energy and enthusiasm as Fray Leonardo Pauligue, OAR, was formally installed as the new Local Prior. The solemn ceremony, held just before midday prayers, marked a significant moment for the Augustinian Recollect community, particularly for the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), which they administer.
The installation rites were presided over by Fray Bernard Amparado, OAR, Prior Provincial. In his homily, Fray Amparado addressed the weight of the new responsibility, aptly describing the role of prior as a “Herculean task.” He stressed that such a demanding position could only be effectively fulfilled through humility and dedicated service, reminding everyone of the core tenets of the Recollect charism.
The event was further distinguished by the presence of Hon. Rufus Rodriguez, the esteemed Brother-General of the Order, underscoring the importance of this leadership transition within the broader Augustinian Recollect Order.
Fray Pauligue’s installation signifies a new chapter for the Recoletos de Bacolod. As Local Prior, he will now guide and oversee the local religious community, whose mission extends significantly to the educational apostolate through UNO-R. The enthusiasm among the friars, despite the inclement weather, highlighted their collective commitment to their shared mission and charism, particularly in their unwavering dedication to providing quality Catholic education in Negros Occidental.
