Fray Rommel Rubia Installed as Prior of Recollect Novitiate in Antipolo City

Antipolo City, Philippines – Fray Rommel Rubia officially assumed his role as the new Prior of the Recollect Novitiate in Antipolo City today, July 5, 2025. This appointment marks a significant transition for Fray Rubia, who previously served as the Master of Novices.

The solemn installation rite, known as the toma de posesión, took place at the St. Ezekiel Moreno Novitiate-Recoletos Chapel, immediately following the morning prayers of the Office of Readings and Lauds.

Fray Bernard Amparado, the Prior Provincial, presided over the ceremony, formally entrusting Fray Rubia with the leadership of the novitiate community.

Among those present were the formation team of Antipolo, who will collaborate closely with Fray Rubia in guiding the seminarians. The outgoing novices, who had l professed their vows on the same day, were also in attendance, celebrating their transition from novitiate life. They were joined by the current novices and pre-novices, who will now benefit from Fray Rubia’s experienced guidance.

Further demonstrating the strong bonds within the Augustinian Recollect family, religious from other OAR communities were present, along with members of the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity (SARF) de Antipolo.

Fray Rubia’s extensive experience as Master of Novices is expected to be a valuable asset in his new role as local prior, ensuring continuity and dedicated spiritual formation for the future Recollect friars.
