Recoletos de Palawan Welcomes New Local Priors

PALAWAN—In a meaningful day for the Recoletos communities of Palawan, new local priors were installed for Recoletos de Inagawan, Recoletos de Casian, and Recoletos de Plaridel on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The installations, presided over by Fray Bernard Amparado, marked a new chapter for the local communities.
The day began with a unified rite of installation, or “Toma de Posesion,” for the communities of Inagawan and Casian. Held at the convent chapel of Recoletos de Inagawan before the praying of the Midday prayers, the ceremony saw Fray Roy Baluarte formally installed as the Local Prior of Inagawan and Fray Nestor Raras as the Local Prior of Casian.
The members of both communities were present to offer their support and warmly welcome their new leaders. Following the rite, a significant symbolic gesture took place: a bell from the Nuestra Señora de La Salud Friary was formally turned over to the Recoletos de Casian community by the Prior Provincial, serving as a tangible symbol of their new beginnings.
Later that same afternoon, the installation for the Recoletos de Plaridel community was held. Fray Antonio Limchaypo was officially installed as the new Local Prior. In a show of solidarity, members from the Inagawan and Casian communities also attended the ceremony.
After the installation, the Recoletos de Palawan communities came together for a time of fellowship. They traveled to Nueva Ostia-Recoletos in Brgy. Tinagong Dagat to visit the retreat house and spend the rest of the afternoon as one united Recoleto community in Palawan. This gathering underscored the strong sense of brotherhood and shared purpose among the different communities on the island.
