A New Chapter Begins: Fray De Mesa Installed as Local Prior of Recoletos de Urbiztondo

URBIZTONDO, Pangasinan—A new chapter for the Recoletos de Urbiztondo community began on August 11, 2025, with the installation of Fray Gaudencio Geronimo De Mesa Jr., OAR, as its new Local Prior. The solemn installation rite took place at the Oratory of Our Lady of Consolation, the community’s chapel.

The ceremony was presided over by the Prior Provincial, Fray Bernard Amparado, OAR, who officially entrusted Fray De Mesa with the responsibilities of leading the community. The rite, a significant moment for the community, symbolizes the continuation of the spiritual and pastoral mission of the Order of Augustinian Recollects in the area.

Also present to witness this important occasion were Fray Samson Silloriquez, the Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, and Fray Jayferson Baldelovar.

As the new Local Prior, Fray De Mesa will oversee the daily life and activities of the Recoletos community, which actively serves the Our Lady of the Visitation Parish. The leadership of the Local Prior is essential in fostering the community’s growth and ensuring its continued service to the faithful.
