TALISAY CITY, Negros Occidental — A significant milestone for the Augustinian Recollect community of Recoletos de Talisay happened on the morning of Saturday, August 16, 2025, with the installation of Fr. Constantino Real, OAR, as its new local prior. The rite, known as the “toma de posesión,” was presided over by the Prior Provincial, Fr. Bernard Amparado, OAR, in the presence of the community’s members at the convent chapel.

The ceremony held a dual significance as it coincided with Fr. Real’s 45th anniversary as an Augustinian Recollect. The community celebrated this special occasion, which marked not only a personal milestone for Fr. Real but also a new chapter of leadership for the community and its apostolates.

Fr. Real’s installation was the final one in a series of similar rites held throughout the Philippines. This process is mandated by the OAR Constitutions, which require all newly appointed local priors to make a profession of faith in front of the Prior Provincial or his delegate. This public affirmation signifies their commitment to their new role and the Order. Following the conclusion of the installations in the Philippines, the next ceremonies will be scheduled for communities in Indonesia, Saipan, Vietnam, and Sierra Leone.

The Recoletos de Talisay community is entrusted with the spiritual and pastoral care of the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, a historic church deeply rooted in the local community.

Additionally, the friars are responsible for the management of Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino. The school, formerly known as UNO-R Talisay, was established by the Recollect Fathers in 1971 to provide quality Catholic education in the area and continues to be a cornerstone institution in the city.
