SAN CARLOS CITY, Negros Occidental – A significant moment unfolded today, July 24, 2025, for the Recoletos de San Carlos community as Fray Enrico Peter Silab was formally installed as their new Local Prior. The solemn installation rite was seamlessly integrated into a Mass in honor of the Holy Spirit, held at the Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos (CST-R).

The celebration was presided over by Fray Bernard Amparado, the Prior Provincial, who delivered the homily emphasizing the importance of invoking the Holy Spirit. The Father Provincial described the Holy Spirit as the divine guide, nourisher, and inspirer. He stressed that the Holy Spirit empowers individuals to utilize their God-given talents for the betterment of the communities they serve, a message particularly pertinent to the Recoletos de San Carlos, which administers Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos, Inc.

Following the homily, installation rite took place. The official appointment letter of Fray Silab, signed by the Prior General, was formally read. This document publicly affirmed his new role. Subsequently, to formally accept his leadership, Fray Silab made the Profession of Faith. In the presence of the Prior Provincial, his fellow religious community members, and the entire school community, Fray Silab publicly affirmed his adherence to the doctrines of the Catholic Church and his commitment to the Augustinian Recollect charism. This act served as a solemn declaration of his spiritual and administrative dedication to the Recoletos de San Carlos.

The event gathered a diverse assembly, including the student body of CST-R, the members of the faculty, lay administrators, and support staff. Also present were the members of the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity, demonstrating the wider Recollect family’s support for the new prior.

Fray Cristopher Maspara, OAR, the School President of CST-R, extended a heartfelt message of gratitude to all attendees – students, teachers, staff, and SARF members alike. He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the presence of the newly appointed religious administrators, whose appointments were formalized just prior to the Mass during the Organizational Meeting of the Board of Trustees of CST-R. A notable presence at the ceremony was Fray Joel Alve, the former School Director of CST-R, who now serves as the President of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

The installation of Fray Enrico Peter Silab marks a new chapter for Recoletos de San Carlos, underscoring their continued commitment to spiritual guidance, community service, and educational excellence under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
