400th ANNIVERSARY (1622-2022) OF THE ARRIVAL OF THE RECOLETOS IN MINDANAO

(Note: Actually, we have not yet found the exact date. But, in consultation with our historian, we just freely placed it on this day since it was on the 1st of March, 1621 – or a year earlier than the missionaries’ arrival – that the Bishop of Cebu entrusted to the Recoletos the northeastern part of Mindanao. “September” is our chosen month as it is reminiscent of the saint whose feast falls on the said month and under whose patronage the then eponymous Province was placed.)
