Bullet Points for Reflection
- The Liturgical Year comes to an end with the celebration of Christ the King. As we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ as King, we acknowledge our faith in the universal kingship of Jesus and our longing for the full realization of God’s kingdom
- During these perilous times, when everything seems uncertain, having Jesus as our King should fill us with gratitude for knowing how He continues to love and protect us. Acknowledging Jesus as our king should also give us courage, assurance, and hope. There’s plenty of fearful realities out there. There are plenty of things that threaten us:
- typhoons, earthquakes, flash floods, corruption in the government, political bickering driven by personal ambitions…. But this is a Sunday that should give us comfort and assurance.
- We have an all-powerful King and Lord who is Jesus. The mercy and love of our King will always be with us, to accompany us. As St. Paul would say, nothing can ever separate us from his love and mercy.
- Jesus knows all our trials, our hardships, our pain, and our sufferings. He has gone through all these. He even accepted crucifixion as an offering on our behalf. Throughout history, thousands of followers have died for their kings, but Jesus is the King who died for us to give us His beloved life! Let us reaffirm our trust in Him as we celebrate His Kingship.
