Be opened!
23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
September 9, 2018 | Mk. 7: 31-37
Reflection: ‘Ephphata,’ ‘Be opened!’ How beautiful it is to hear from the Lord, when our ears are deaf from the cries of the people around us, and we are mute to speak out for justice. ‘Be opened,’ words that can turn our minds and hearts to the our calling as followers of Jesus. But before we can hear these, we have to allow the Lord to touch us. Only when we allow the Lord to touch us, that touch that heals our brokenness, that touch that cleanses, that touch that brings peace to our troubled life. It is the Lord who can do such in our lives. Ephphata! May the Lord open not only our ears and loosen tongue, may He open our hearts to love those who are unlovable, open our eyes to see the reality of the things around us. May He also open our sense of touch that we may not be insensitive to pains of life, that would teach us to care also for other. May He open our whole being that we may always be sensitive to His presence in everything that surrounds us.
