35 young men welcomed for search-in program
San Carlos City, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – The Sto. Tomas de Villanueva-Recoletos Formation House (STVR-FH) opened its doors to 35 young men who felt they have an initial calling for the priesthood and religious life. The came voluntarily for a three-day “Search-In Program” from March 8 to 10.
Organized by STVR-FH, the said program was meant to let these young men experience firsthand a foretaste of what seminary life is. This was also in preparation for the re-opening of the High School Seminary, but only for Grades 9 and 10 applicants, next school year.
It was also made clear that the planned alternative program for STVR-FH shall include a Live Out Plan of Formation (LOPF) which will see its re-opening this S.Y. 2019-2020.
Those young men immersed themselves with the usual seminary activities such as, prayers, conference, meals, laborandum (manual work outside the building), manualia (manual work inside the seminary), etc.
The talk about Vocation was given by Fray Rafael Cabarles, OAR, who was then a minor seminarian, Rector, Prefect of Discipline of this formation house. He was also a National Vocation Director for two years, to help candidates or applicants discern their vocation for religious and priestly life especially in the Augustinian Recollect way.
STVR-FH hopes and prays that all of them heed the Lord’s call, enter the Recollect seminary, and become later among the workers in God’s vineyard. May the Lord, the author of vocation, guide these young men in discerning their calling in life.
