Recoletos School of Theology conducted a theological symposium on “COMMUNION IN CHRIST”
Mira Nila Homes, QUEZON CITY–Recoletos School of Theology conducted a half-day theological symposium at the Bulwagang Rekoletos Atrium. The said event dwelt on the theme “COMMUNION IN CHRIST.” The event commenced with Fr. Lauro V. Larlar, OAR, the Rector of RST, setting the tone of the gathering by a brief introduction of what the symposium and a warmly welcome to all participants.
Fray Radni Caparas, OAR, the Dean of RST, was the first speaker. He delivered the talk on “Christological Hermeneutics of Augustine in the writings of Benedict XVI”. Fr. Caparas focused on Augustine’s method in knowing Christ through the thought of Benedict XVI. Prayer leads us to know and to understand Christ more; likewise, prayer and silence are mediums in listening to God’s word. “Thus, the primacy of love is paramount in prayer and silence,” the Dean said.
Msgr. Sabino Vengo, the second speaker, dealt on the topic “Parish as communion: A Pastoral Imperative.” His talk focused on the centrality of the parish as a venue of unity and communion with God. Through the harmonious and united relationship of God’s people with one another, a community of listeners of God’s word is established. Prayer, then, is not only exclusive to oneself as a member of the Church but is to be done as a community of God’s believers.
