First Research Orientation Seminar Held
CAVITE CITY – The Institutional Research Office of San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite has held its maiden Institutional Research Orientation Seminar on the 11th of August, 2017 at the Multi-Purpose Hall.
The main purpose for the Orientation Seminar was to build on the research capabilities of students in the different departments and also make the departments more vibrant in aiding the research visibility agenda of the IRO.
Fray James Dexter R. Tanquis, OAR gave the opening remarks and stressed that the research orientation seminar is a fundamental part of scholarly activity in a student’s life. Next on the list was the launching of the Etheros and Koha Online Research Database which was themed and focused on providing researchers an opportunity to access a softcopy of past research works which was discussed by Mr. Ricardo Aguilar for the morning session and Mr. Aljohn D. Manahan for the afternoon session.
Mrs. Mary Jane T. Batiancila, the Director of Libraries, elaborated the citation rules for research papers and introduced to the students the different aspects of using the Library and its collections.
The Department Heads of each colleges discussed their departmental research policy, Mrs. Arianne J. Lacorte for CABAHM, Ms. Maricar Torres for CASN, Mr. Tommy A. Ditucalan for CECST, and Ms. Nimfa P. Taupo for the IT Department, while Mr. Felipe Costuna Jr., Dean of CCJE assured the IRO Director that he will strictly implement the departmental research policy for his department. The closing remarks was given by the Dean of CASN, Mrs. Jennifer Escobar.
Mrs. Juvy B. De La Rosa, the Research Director of IRO, and who also spearheaded the event, said she was happy about the organization of the program as it was the first of its kind. She thanked the Vice President for Academics, the Deans, the students and the committee members for their corporation.
The seminar was attended by three hundred eighty five (385) participants from CASN, CCJE, CECST and CABAHM, the students was supported in attendance by the committee members.
