BACOLOD CITY- July 25-26, 2018, The UNO-R School of Agriculture of the College of Arts and Sciences held its 1st Recoletos Agri-Business Summit at the university grounds.  The summit gathered almost a thousand participants from all over the region.  It opened with the formalities and the opening message was given by the University President, Rev. Fr. Don H. Besana, OAR. Fr. President hinted that the Recoletos Online Extension project is synergy of agriculture with other disciplines and programs.  The summit invited four keynote speakers who talked about the bounty of agriculture.  They keynote speakers were Ariel Camarillo, President of Camarillo Farm Corp. (Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship); Dr. Nervy Santiago, CEO, Alterna Verde Corporation (agribusiness incubation and opportunities in Agribusiness); Dominic Barnachea, USAID STRIDE (the role of Science and Technology in Agribusiness).  Panel Discussion were also held.  On the topic of “Why agribusiness education”, the panel members were Engr. Jan Agnes Jumamil of Acticon; Johanna Lyn Inocencio of DV Boer International Farms; Rodel Anunciado of Living Soils.  On the topic of “Building Partnerships in Agribusiness education”, the panel members were Roberto Acosta, Value Chain Partnership manager; Dr. Santiago and Mr. Camarillo.  During the said summit, the students were also entertained at the exhibit sites, where games and agri quiz highlighted the exhibits and opened the minds of the young people to agriculture. The Summit chairman is Dr. Corazon Acaba, ROLeX Project Manager.
