14 Recollect simply professed friars renew their vows

MIRA NILA HOMES, QUEZON CITY – Thirteen simply professed friars renewed their vows for another year last June 8, 2024 at St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel, Recoletos Formation Center and one friar in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Their renewal was accepted by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Onda, OAR, Vicar Provincial of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, together with Rev. Fr. Emilio Quilatan, OAR, and Rev. Fr. James Castelo, OAR, as witnesses.

Fr. Onda, in his homily, reminded the friars that during the renewal of vows, they were in effect renewing their commitment more deeply to become poor, obedient and chaste like Christ.

He also emphasized the real significance of what it is to be an Augustinian Recollect goes beyond the wearing of the religious habit of the Order.  More importantly it is in living the way of life of the Order. He told them, “You are for others, in service and love, just like Jesus who came to serve and not to be served.”

Simultaneously on the same day, Fray Helfrid Palmis, OAR also renewed his simple profession of vows in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam who is currently assisting in the new community. His renewal was accepted by Fr. Allan Jacinto, OAR, local prior.
