San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, QUEZON CITY — In a concelebrated Holy Mass presided over by the Prior Provincial, Rev. Fr. Bernard Amparado, OAR, the Augustinian Recollect community gathered to bid farewell to Rev. Jhyryx Vincent Gamulo, OAR, as he embarks on a mission to the heart of West Africa — Sierra Leone.

A mission cross was blessed and given to Rev. Jhyryx as a symbol of his commitment to his faith and mission. This also signifies the start of his journey. Rev. Jhyryx, with a humble heart, accepted the cross, knowing it would guide him throughout his mission.

Rev. Jhyryx is expected to serve the community of Kamabai, located in the Northern Province of Bombali. The mission he is about to begin is not just a call to serve but also a call to make a notable change in the lives of the community in Kamabai. He carries with him the prayers and blessings of the entire Augustinian Recollect community and the trust that he can make a lasting difference in the lives of those he encounters.

This is a testament to the power of faith and the unwavering spirit of service. The send-off Mass marks the beginning of his journey, a journey filled with challenges and opportunities to spread hope and compassion.

As Rev. Jhyryx and his companion, Rev. Fr. Anthony Morillo, OAR, depart for Africa (June 13, 2024), let us continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers, supporting their mission and wishing them Godspeed in their endeavors.
