USJ-R opens Sportsfest for employees on feast day of St. Ezekiel
CEBU CITY–To celebrate the feast day of St. Ezekiel Moreno, employees of the University of San Jose – Recoletos gather at the Basak Campus to launch their annual Recoletos de Cebu Sportsfest.
“Let us not limit the giving of our unselfish service within our classrooms and our offices only but let us strive to show our concern to others in the way we interact with our co-teachers, co-employees, and members of the bigger community as well,” said Rev. Fr. Rouel Sia, OAR in his opening remarks.
Moreover, University President Rev. Fr. Cristopher Maspara, OAR expressed his well-wishes to the Josenian community before he officially opened the activity on August 19.
The USJ-R employees were divided into five groups namely Team San Ezekiel, Team San Jose, Team Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Team San Augustin, Team San Nicolas. Each team picked representatives to compete in different competitions.

MISS SPORSTFEST
Champion: Ms. Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad (San Nicolas)
1st Runner-up: Ms. Khaterine Estoconing (San Agustin)
2nd Runner-up: Ms. Therese Anne Luzelle Dela Cerna (San Jose)
MISTER SPORTSFEST
Champion: Mr. Jan Hector Obando (San Ezekiel)
1st runner up: Mr. Dan Ian Niño Jaducana (San Jose)
2nd runner up: Mr. Nelson Villamejor (San Agustin)
DANCE PALABAS
Champion: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Engineering, RITTC, JHS)
1st runner-up: San Jose (SHS, CRE)
2nd runner-up: San Nicolas (OPS)
JOSENIAN IDOL
Champion: Dr. Jackielyn P. Cabrera (San Nicolas)
1st runner-up: Dr. Julius P. Dequillo (San Ezekiel)
2nd runner-up: Ms. Richelle P. Kahanding (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel)
3rd runner-up: Mr. Rualdo “Al” A. Radomes (San Agustin)
4th runner-up: Ms. Pia Joy Bohol (San Jose)
This event aims to showcase the different expertise of Josenian employees in entertainment and sports. Moreover, the event is also hoped by the administrators to strengthen the “familial bond” among the members of the USJ-R community.
The Recoletos de Cebu Sportsfest will culminate on September 17.
